Kanye hasn’t changed. He just has more people listening to him.

In Jan ‘04 Dame Dash invited me 2 Sundance Film Festival for the premiere of The Woodsman. After the movie, he had a party with bunch of hollywood “peeps.” DJ AM was spinning, the place was having a great time. Dame had AM cut his set in middle so Kanye could perform. But no one knew who Kanye was then. His 1st album wasn’t coming out until Feb. In fact, I think John Legend was playing keyboard in Ye’s stage band. Thru the wire may have been out. Can’t remember. But no one in hollywood was that hip to know it. Ye got up on stage in a room that had two floors. Balcony overlooking stage. Not the best environment for music performance. He started to perform. People weren’t paying attention. He could feel it. They were talking. He was frustrated. About 3/4 of the way into the song. He stopped. “Everyone that is not listening is gonna be mad u had the opportunity to see me perform for the first time.”

But it still didn’t silence the crowd. Chatter continued. He jumped off stage. Ran to the top of balcony and screamed at the top of his lungs. Demanded to be heard. To be honest he COMMANDED to be heard. Similar to his recent rants. I couldn’t believe this kid had the balls. The conviction in himself to turn these people and HE DID. People started to watch and they got into it. I knew at that moment. He was a real artist. That he cares about one thing. At all costs. HIS MUSIC.

If there is a point to this story, I guess its appreciate what artists want you to hear and don’t let expectations ruin the experience.

The other day I went to write up one of my cashiers because she lost a lot of money by giving back improper change and then I accidentally lost the filled-out write up form in the office somewhere and now I'm hoping no one finds it because they'll see it was from a month ago and it's been missing this whole time and I hope none of my coworkers follow me on Tumblr

“Why aren’t you scared now, what changed?” The prosecutor watched the little boy closely as he pointed to the front row of seats in the court room.

“Because my friends are scarier than he is.”

Goodnight, You - It’s Always Been Me (Live 3/8/13)

Following Ohio on Hi as the last band before City Lights, the night’s headliner, Goodnight, You was faced with a raging crowd raring for a performance to match their energy and they did not disappoint. This video was taken as they began their closer, and what followed was an eruption of crowdsurfing, stage diving, guest vocals, and even the wrecking of a mic stand. This is what local bands hope and prepare for every practice and videos like this are inspiring. Also, it’s a pretty damn good song!

This was some of the most fun I’ve ever had haha I got to do guest vocals at the end of a set with some of my best friends and the entire show/crowd was fucking crazy. WATCH THIS SHIT!
